More and more people are experiencing the health and well-being benefits of energy "medicine". Not medicine as we know it, but a means of balancing and correcting energy pathways in the body which allows the body to heal itself both physically and emotionally. There are many forms of energy work: Reiki, Biofeedback Systems, Healing Touch, and more. Shamans recognized the body's response to energy work hundreds of years ago through the vibrations of drums and chanting. Add Comment Get Rid of Fleas - Naturally 01/08/2012
Fleas are prolific and most of the natural flea repellants just don't work. So out of frustration pet parents turn to spot on or medicinal flea products which compromise the health of your pet and your family. Poison is poison - it may kill fleas but it's also threatening to your pet's well being. Shoo Tags(tm) are lightweight plastic tags your pets wear on their collars. They have a magnetic strip like credit cards and this emanates a magnetic energy field that basically binds to your pets natural energy field and fleas are repelled because they don't recognize your dog or cat as a potential host. This company also makes tags for people for repelling mosquitoes. Feeding garlic (freshly minced) on a continual basis is a sure fire cure to your flea problem. Start with a small amount - it MUST be fed daily - and build up gradually until your fleas are gone. It takes just about 8 days for this formula to kick in, so if you still see fleas in eight days increase the dose slightly. Mind you . . . it only takes about 3 days of not feeding the garlic for the effect to wear off - so consistency is your natural solution. Lastly - applying food grade diatomaceous earth to your dog will kill both fleas and eggs by causing micro scratches in the chitin shell surrounding their body or that of the egg. They then dehydrate and die. This is messy - your house will get powdery looking. You need to be careful not to put too much because you don't want your dog inhaling the powder and risk irritating the respiratory tract. Itching - a natural relief 12/04/2011
Idiopathic itching is when your dog scratches but you are unable to find a reason for his/her discomfort. Many vets will recommend giving Benadryl or even prednisone. All these medications impair your pet's natural ability to remain healthy. We work with our clients to help identify causes of the itching - but meanwhile - relief is needed. Here is a nice and gentle recipe: Chamomile tea brewed strongly (if there are sores or a rash we recommend adding slippery elm (about 1 part slippery elm to 3 parts chamomile). Brew the tea by bringing water to steamy - NOT BOILING. Then add the herbs or tea bags and let the tea steep. We use loose chamomile flowers and shredded slippery elm bark. We leave the herbs in the mixture and merely use a cotton ball dipped in the liquid to apply to skin. Can be applied as often as needed. Natural aid for arthritis 11/24/2011
Green lipped mussel (we recommend Food Science of Vermont brand which is freeze dried), from New Zealand. is a rich source of amino acids, protein, naturally chelated minerals, chondroitin, and glycosaminoglycans which make up the core of all connective tissue. New Zealand green lipped mussels are said to support the health, comfort, flexibility and hydration of synovial fluid and connective tissues including joints, ligaments, tendons, cartilage and intervertebral discs. We give these to our 11 year old Old English Sheepdog and they clearly make her feel better. Getting your dog clean and bright 11/14/2011
This little boy spent all summer having fun and now is back in his winter home in Florida and in need of a new "do". He was quite stained and dirty. A good bath to get smells and stains out includes adding baking soda to the shampoo. This helps the shampoo clean more effectively but rub with care because baking soda is a good scrub - so scrub with care. We used Ring 5 Bright White Shampoo and worked it in good and let sit for a few minutes (not too long so as not to irritate skin). Then we bathed with a gentle shampoo - Spa White. A very different look. Because his owners like him short he has a short puppy cut body with a shorter Westie shaped head. But you can see how white he looks - and take our word for it - he smells sweet too! Training Preparations 11/14/2011
There is no "easy fix" for behavior or training issues. But a fundamental appreciation that it takes two to tango will go a long way to paving a smooth road for you and your companion animal. Pack animals require structure and leadership to clearly understand what is required and when. Likewise, a responsible and fair human, needs to be willing to step up, take responsibility, be consistent, learn and practice animal behavior techniques. Then, and only then, do the two form a bond of mutual respect and love. | Categories |
